A small note in english for our new danish - kiwi - irish - american (whatever) friends we met on the road... you'll find the french one a bit later.
I'll try my best b/c it is much easier in french but you still can practise your french and try to read our "recits de voyage". Lazy guys...
We had been walking for 22 days in the Annapurna area : Annapurna Round and ABC camp. It was awesome!!! Our guide (Kamal) was incredible : nice, crazy, good singer (actually a real jukebox!!!), etc. We had such a good fun w/ him and went insane many times all together. We taught him a bit of french and the only words he kept on saying were : "Je t'aime" and "Putain!'... Guess we're not that good at teaching!!!
These 25 days were amazing : incredible sceneries, good weather (we were really lucky : a couple of rainy hours and that was it...), nice people, confy lodges (with shower and electricity most of the time)... Kamal woke us up by 7.00 am every morning. We were walking between 5 and 8 hours a day with a lunch break (1 hour a least). We arrived at the next lodge around 3 pm : just enough time to relax, take a shower... Diner was around 6.30 pm (it was dark by 5.30 pm anyway...). Most of the time we ordered a Dal Bhat (typical meal) : plain rice (Bhat), lentil soup (Dal), curry vegetables, pickles and sometimes a bowl of fried meat (chicken or mutton). You can get as much as you want (except meat)... it's a good thing when you are starving after a whole trekking day!!! Nepali guides or porters eat Dal Bhat every day (lunch and dinner) with the right hand... so did we.
It was a bit of a familial atmosphere as we met the same people all the way long : spending time together, taking pictures, worrying about each other's injuries, playing cards, drinking tea, etc.
We met many frenchies (mostly actually) but also two american sisters, a danish-irish couple (You're definetly too slow at UNO, Elizabeth... let's practise and play again in Copenhagen:-), some fellows from Belgium, etc. Now we can play card games from all over the world!!!
The trek was very various : tropical vegetation, waterfalls, rivers, stone steps, snow and ice, glacier, forest, windy and desert valley, monasteries... Every couple of days, it was different : vegetation, houses, people's faces, etc. But the people were always adorable and friendly.
Some parts were very steep but we did it!!! (come on, we are healthy PE teachers... :-)
We could observe musk deers, blue sheeps, monkeys (not kidding!!!), yaks, goats, horses, donkeys, birds (any size.. dunno the name), dogs...
Actually the pictures on the blog speak for themselves... (click on "album photos")
At the end we spent two lazy days in Pokhara. Just relaxing (good shower - good food - good beer - good live band) and enjoying the view (tough choice : Annapurna range or Phewa lake?!Yerk yerk yerk...).
Back to KTM two days ago. It's weird to walk around such a noisy and crowded city after 25 days in nature. But still feel at home...
After a Dal Bhat yesterday night with Kamal (terrific!!!), we will cook some french food at his flat tomorrow night : stuffed tomatoes!!! We'll try our best...
We are leaving Nepal on the 18th. 36 hours by bus to Delhi. Can't wait to stay seated such a long time!!! If you have any riddles or games, feel free to send them...
